The village of Tripotamos is located just 5 km away from the Chora (principal town) of Tinos. 

On the northern side of the village stands the bare rock of Exombourgos, where the ruins of the Medieval city of Tinos are located, while its southern side faces the monastery of Agia Pelagia and the neighboring Delos.

The beautiful Cycladic village is the passage to the traditional settlements of Exomeria, the Middle and the Upper parts of the island, but it is its structure that makes it so special. 

There are alleys that lead to different ones and confuse you, courtyards and wide terraces with no gaps in between, just like a fortress. 

At the same time, the village is a peculiar kind of castle. There may not be walls or a moat, but when its outer gates are closed, Tripotamos is “sealed” and no one can enter or leave it.

And just like that, this labyrinthine castle managed to stay safe from pirate raids on the island for years. Whoever managed to enter the village, got lost in the alleys trying to find an exit.

The houses are so close to one another, that it is possible to move around Tripotamos simply by passing from roof to roof. 

One more thing that makes Tripotamos so special is the fact that it is perhaps the only village in Greece where a public square does not exist!
