A Mysterious Fairygarden on Mount Gouvala full of stories and legends
Neraidokipos (greek word for “fairy garden”) is located just outside the village of Pefko on Mount Gouvala. It is a site quite impressive, yet strange, as folk tradition has associated it with bizarre stories and legends about elves and fairies that come out at night. From these legends the area got the name “Neraidokipos”.
It is basically a large hole with a depth of about 70-80 meters and an opening of about 100 meters. This location is amazing as this “hole” is located in the middle of a green hill, as if a meteorite had fallen and the mountain “broke”. Many stories have been said about Neraidokipos, with this location being a subject of study not only for folklorists, but also for lovers of metaphysics.
You can reach Neraidokipos from the southern part of Pefkos, going up the small path after leaving the village. This path meanders through the green slope to the top of the mountain, where the mysterious hole is located.
