Greek commando (O.Y.K.) goes on foot from Lamia to Mount Athos, holding the icon of the Virgin Mary
Aristides had wandered all his life in the image of his Maker. The photos of Aristides from the old national road Lamia - Thessaloniki, on which he walked to reach the monastery of Esfigmenos on Mount Athos, are from December 6.
"Aristides is a wonderful person. He grew up in a family with faith in Orthodoxy. As a child he was very close to God and the Church. As an adult, he followed the same path. Later he served in the Special Forces.
Even there he made friends because everyone saw in him his kindness. Do not let his beard and looks fool you. As handsome as he was on the inside, he was also handsome on the outside.
His dream is to become a monk. He has tried other times. His faith led him to Mount Sinai, where, according to the Bible, Moses received the 10 Commandments from God. Returning to Athens, Aristides again visited Mount Athos to be tested and become a monk.
But he was unsuccessful. Now he is being led to his dream again, and we hope that he will do well and succeed." his friends say.
We hope that Aristides will reach his goal and that soon there will be news of him, of people who met him somewhere on his lonely journey.
